Oxnard Man Accused Of Robbing Home Of Former Friend In Custody

VENTURA (CBSLA.com) — A 38-year-old man was in custody Sunday after allegedly robbing the home of a former acquaintance.

According to the Ventura Police Department, Pedro Gomez of Oxnard was arrested on burglary and possession of narcotic paraphernalia charges.

Police said they received a 911 call just after 3 a.m. from a resident located in the 6000 block of Woodland Street for an unknown intruder inside of a residence.

Once on scene, officers said they detained Gomez while he exited the side yard of the residence while carrying property.

The occupants of the residence were accounted for and not injured by Cruz, authorities said.

According to police, officers proceeded to check the inside of the home, but found no other suspects.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Gomez made entry into the victim's home through an unlocked window.

Officers said he removed property from a bedroom and attempted to leave the area when officers detained him.

The 41-year-old victim was contacted by police and confirmed over the phone that the property belonged to her and Gomez did not have permission to be in her home, police said.

While searching Gomez, officers said they found additional items stolen from the home along with narcotic paraphernalia.

According to police, the property was released back to the victim.

Gomez is being held at the Ventura County Main Jail.

No information was provided regarding a date for his arraignment.
