Public's Help Sought Amid Recent Surge In Thefts Of Lawn Décor In Thousand Oaks

THOUSAND OAKS (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Wednesday asked for the public's help in identifying the suspects involved in the theft of lawn décor and other property in Thousand Oaks.

The Ventura County Sheriff's office said in a written statement that a reward of up to $1,000 would be offered by Ventura County Crime Stoppers for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint against those responsible.

Over the past four to five weeks, there has been a large increase in property theft from the front yards of homes, deputies said.

"The property stolen has been lawn decorations that range from large concrete statues to simple lawn ornaments," the statement added.

Deputies added that over 20 thefts have been reported during this time period, most of which occurred in the middle of the night.

The statement further stated that an unidentifiable man and possibly blonde woman were seen driving up to a home in a mid-size vehicle, and allegedly stealing lawn décor in one incident, according to security footage.

Anyone with more information about these crimes was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
