Chef Ellie Krieger Shares How To Incorporate Healthier Meals Into Busy Lives

STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — As school starts back up again, keeping everyone satisfied and well fed at night may be difficult.

Chef Ellie Krieger stopped by KCAL9 Thursday to talk about her new book "Weekend Wonders" and how viewers can add healthier meals to their daily lives.

The Food Network star and best-selling author shared the following tips:

  • Always incorporate fresh produce into your recipes. Favorite fruit in season: Grapes from California
  • Breakfast: Overnight oats are all the rage and for good reason! They're healthy and so easy to prepare. Adding fruit and nuts gives it an extra boost of flavor and nutrition.
  • Lunch: Grilled cheese and grapes? You bet! Try a panini with mozzarella, arugula in balsamic and the grapes add just the right amount of natural sweetness.
  • Dinner: Kale is still in the spotlight. The secret is to massage the leaves with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, then toss anything in! A combination of grapes, pine nuts and Parmesan is great.
  • And don't forget dessert: fruit is the best choice. Try grapes in a port wine sauce.
