Armed Man Taken Into Custody After Standoff At Lancaster Home

LANCASTER (CBSLA.com) — A man was taken into custody Tuesday after a daylong standoff with a Lancaster man who pointed a rifle at a member of an eviction team Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The incident was reported shortly before noon at a residence along the 44300 block of Fourth Street East near Avenue J, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officials said.

Authorities say sheriff's deputies were attempting to serve a notice of eviction when the man pointed a rifle at them.

The man, who has not been identified, is about 50 years old and alone.

Nearby El Dorado Elementary School was locked down as a precaution. A private preschool was also evacuated, deputies said.

No injuries were reported.
