Tensions Flare In South LA Standoff Between LAPD, Public
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Tensions are flaring Friday evening between a group of LAPD officers and the public in South Los Angeles.
An officer from the LAPD's Southeast division made an "officer needs help" call in the area of 92nd and Hickory.
Police said a small crowd gathered around the officers and refused to disperse.
Authorities said the group "got violent," reported Stu Mundel in Sky9.
More officers around causing a standoff with the crowd.
Mundel said after more police arrived, they set up a skirmish line and most of the crowd then left the area.
He reported LAPD, meanwhile, "has not backed down and has not left the neighborhood."
It was unclear if any arrests were made.
