OC Transportation, Metrolink Officials To Launch Safety Campaign
ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Metrolink and Orange County Transportation Authority officials Thursday will launch the safety campaign, "See Tracks? Think Train!"
Spokesperson for the campaign and volunteer for Operation Lifesavor, Mark Kalina, will share his personal experience of losing his legs after getting caught under a moving train at 10 a.m. at the Orange Metrolink/Amtrak Station.
The event aims to caution pedestrians to stay away from tracks and raise awareness about risky pedestrian and driver behavior around railroad tracks.
California has the highest number of fatality-related highway-rail grade crossing incidents in the United States.
The California Office of Traffic Safety has worked collaboratively with Metrolink and other rail partners in the campaign to save lives at highway-rail crossings.
