Caught On Camera: Man Sought In Santa Ana Armed Robbery

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public's help Friday in identifying man suspected of armed robbery after holding an Auto Zone cashier at gunpoint.

According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the man entered the store in the 800 block of South Harbor Boulevard around 7 p.m. Thursday.

He demanded cash and pointed a black semiautomatic handgun toward an employee at the checkout register, detectives said.

Police reported the man then reached over the counter and took the cash register drawer. It was unclear how much money was in the drawer at the time of the robbery.

According to detectives, he fled southbound on Harbor Boulevard in a silver, four-door Mitsubishi SUV driven by another male suspect.

The Santa Ana Police Department posted surveillance video in which the man is seen committing the robbery.

Detectives described the man  as a Hispanic, wearing a black baseball cap backward with a white logo on it, sunglasses, a white and brown checkered shirt, beige shorts and white sneakers.

He is believed to be 28 to 38 years old, stands no taller than 5-foot-8 and weighs no more than 170 pounds, police said.

According to officers, he has a black mustache and tattoos on his arms and legs. He was seen wearing a black sleeve on his left arm and was carrying a small, dark-blue bag.
