Southland Mom Behind 'Jen's List' Becomes Go-To Resource On Parenting Tips

CALABASAS (CBSLA.com) — Mother-of-five Jen Levinson has made a name for herself doling out the latest in parenting tips and family-oriented products.

The Calabasas resident is the ultimate mom-in-the-know who shares her tips in a daily e-mail newsletter, "Jen's List," that goes out to 20,000 mothers in the San Fernando Valley and L.A., and is expanding to the San Gabriel Valley and the South Bay.

Levinson takes her experiences raising five young boys and reviews the latest parenting products and services in the Los Angeles area.

"I was reading magazines and newspapers and watching television, and every time I would come across something, I thought would be useful for those who I know around me, I would email them the information," she said.

Little did Levinson know that her friends were forwarding those emails to their friends.

"Five turned into 10, and 10 turned into 20, and 20 turned into 100, and 100 turned into a 1,000," the blogger said. "And before I knew it, I had 6,000 moms from around the area."

Levinson took her mom-friendly research and created the website www.jenslist.com.

The website lists "everything from photography classes, to dance classes, to relationship classes, to classes for the kids teaching them art or music.  It's referrals, whether it be for a babysitter, a house-keeper a nanny, or if somebody had a great experience with an interior decorator or a speech pathologist," she said.

"I think the customer base for Jen's List really runs the gamut, anywhere from a pregnant mom, to a mom that just gave birth, to moms of all ages," Levinson said.

Jen's List isn't just for moms, Levinson stressed to CBS2/KCAL9 reporter Stephanie Simmons, and added people will be surprised what they can discover on her site: "No matter who you are, you can probably find something in the newsletter every single day that will help you, will inspire you, will educate you or will give you information that you didn't have."
