Explosives experts were dispatched about 11 a.m. and remained at the scene several hours later, said LAPD Officer Sara Faden.

Students at nearby Kennedy High School were being advised that they could leave school, but only from the Woodley Avenue side of the campus, police said. The campus was not under lockdown.
