STUDIO CITY ( — Actor Robert Hays stopped by KCAL9 on Saturday morning to discuss his role in the wildly popular film “Sharknado 2: The Second One” as well as promote a charity poker tournament taking place Saturday at the Commerce Casino.

Hays made his mark as the lead in “Airplane!” and “Airplane II: The Sequel,” and has made numerous film and TV appearances, most recently appearing the cult favorite “Sharknado 2.”

He is also among more than 30 celebrities, including several KCAL/KCBS personalities, taking part in Saturday’s Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at the Commerce Casino, benefiting  the Andrew Dougherty Vision Foundation and Love Across the Ocean.

The Andrew Dougherty Foundation provides free vision correction surgery to homeless individuals and disadvantaged patients worldwide. It also trains surgeons to carry on its mission. More information is available at
