Authorities In Standoff With Armed Barricaded Suspect In South Whittier

SOUTH WHITTIER (CBSLA.com) — SWAT teams are on the scene of a barricade standoff with an armed suspect in South Whittier.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department responded to the scene in the 9200 block of Laurel Avenue 8:40 p.m. Thursday after a report of an altercation at a residence.

SKY9's Stu Mundel reports an individual came outside of the home, presented a weapon and went back into the residence.

A special-weapons team responded.

The home was surrounded as authorities attempted to speak with the individual.

Homes in the area have been evacuated as a precaution.
