TOPANGA ( — Two Los Angeles Police Department officers were being commended Tuesday for their heroic actions after saving a woman from a burning apartment complex.

LAPD Topanga Area Officers Ben Mia and Matt Stuart were in the 21700 block of Roscoe Boulevard around 12 p.m. May 28 when they observed an apartment unit engulfed in flames.

Neighbors told the officers a man who lived in the apartment had gone inside to rescue his wife who was asleep in the bedroom.

Mia and Stuart rushed inside and found the the husband disoriented in the living room while his wife remained trapped in the back room. They crawled on their hands and knees through smoke and flames to save her, according to officials.
