Cell Phone Damaged By Rihanna Fetches $66K On eBay

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Rihanna's fumble -- which cost L.A. Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff his smartphone recently -- ended up netting $66,500 for charity when the damaged device was auctioned off on eBay Thursday.

No word on who placed the winning bid.

The money will be donated to the Los Angeles Police Foundation, where it will support a police cadet program geared towards under-served children, Soboroff said.. Some will also be donated to the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation to assist the families of fallen officers.

Rihanna dropped and cracked the phone while attempting to take a selfie with Soboroff at Saturday's playoff game between the LA Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Barbados native signed the back of the phone the next day with, "Sorry! I (love) LAPD. Rihanna." Soboroff says RiRi also donated $25,000 to the police foundation, according to Soboroff.
