OXNARD (CBSLA.com) — A 41-year-old Ventura County teacher has been arrested for misdemeanor child annoyance after he allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Jorge Arellano, a math teacher at Oxnard High School, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home after a six-month criminal investigation, police said.

Oxnard police began investigating Arellano in October 2013 after “receiving information of alleged misconduct with a student who attended Oxnard High School,” Sgt. Sharon Giles said.

Arellano has been placed on paid administrative leave.

Anyone with information on the incident should contact the Oxnard Police Department at (805)385-7661.
