Homeless Man Gets 2 Years For His Role In Fatal Hollywood Stabbing

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — Authorities said that a homeless man who took part in the fatal stabbing of a woman in Hollywood last June has been sentenced to two years in state prison.

Jason Joel Wolstone, 34, pleaded no contest to an assault charge, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Wolstone was immediately sentenced to two years in prison by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Victor Greenberg.

Prosecutors said Wolstone, Dustin James Kinnear and Brian Joseph Widdows had their picture taken by 23-year-old victim Christina Calderon and a friend outside the Hollywood & Highland Center on June 18, 2013.

Calderon declined to give the trio money and a melee ensued. Wolstone pushed the victim and put her in a headlock, prosecutors said. Calderon died after she was allegedly stabbed by Kinnear.

Officials said Kinnear, 27, has pleaded not guilty to one count of murder with a personal use of a knife allegation. Widdows, 34, has pleaded not guilty to two counts of accessory after the fact. Widdows and Kinnear are scheduled to return to court June 4.
