350 Guns Seized, 2 Men Held For Alleged Gunrunning

RIVERSIDE (AP) — State agents have seized some 350 guns and arrested two California men on suspicion of illegal firearms trafficking.

Department of Justice spokesman Nick Pacilio says agents served search warrants Tuesday at two homes in Bakersfield and one in San Bernardino County.

Pacilio says authorities seized about 300 handguns, rifles and assault weapons, two World War II-era grenades and a mortar round.

He says 67-year-old Alvin Seal of Bakersfield and 39-year-old Erik Stoffel of Apple Valley were arrested in Riverside County and an additional 50 guns were seized.

Both remain jailed. It wasn't clear if they'd hired attorneys, and phone listings for associates could not be found.

Pacilio says authorities aren't releasing details of the alleged gun-selling scheme but arms were sold to undercover agents during an investigation that began earlier this year.
