MACARTHUR PARK (CBSLA.com) — A man in a stolen vehicle led police on a wild, albeit brief, chase before attempting to flee on foot.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., LAPD officers began following a driver at Beverly Boulevard and Lake Street, just west of Downtown LA, after discovering the vehicle had been reported stolen.

The man behind the wheel of the Black Ford Expedition sped off, three minutes later, parked at 7th Street and Rampart Boulevard.

SKY2 was overhead as the driver jumped out and ran through an apartment complex, trying to get into homes.

The suspect made it to Leeward Avenue before being tackled by at least five LAPD officers.

He was taken into police custody.

Another suspect inside the car was taken into custody without incident.

Officials have not yet released the suspects’ names.
