Man Arrested In Fatal Stabbing Of His Mother

SAN FERNANDO (CBSLA.com) — A man in his 30s has been arrested for fatally stabbing his mother in their San Fernando home.

The stabbing occurred around 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of Harps Street, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said.

San Fernando police officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon and found Maria Perez lying on the ground, by a doorway, with several stab wounds to her upper torso.

“A male suspect was standing over her holding a knife,” Dep. Crystal Hernandez said.

Perez was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.

Roman Maldonado was arrested for murder and was being held without bail.

A motive behind the stabbing was unclear.
