Police Hunt Suspect After Car Chase, Foot Bail In Hawaiian Gardens

HAWAIIAN GARDENS (CBSLA.com) — Police Friday searched several residential blocks in Hawaiian Gardens for a suspect who led authorities on a short chase.

The male suspect jumped out of his vehicle, after crashing into a parked car, near 221st and Elaine Avenue.

Stu Mundel in Sky9 described the crash as “very violent.”

Mundel said he was surprised the suspect was able to run after the collision.

The suspect is described as a Latino who was wearing a black shirt and tan shorts.

Authorities narrowed their search to one home after believing the suspect ran inside.  The home is located at 221st and Avenue.

Mundel said deputies were seen evacuating several people from the home, including small children, while they continued to search for the suspect.

City News Service reported the suspect was found hiding in a yard about 6:45 p.m.
