Ex-Moreno Valley High Asst. Football Coach, 19, Accused Of Soliciting Sex With Minor

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a former Moreno Valley High School assistant football coach was arrested for sex-related crimes, including soliciting a minor and possessing child porn.

Manual Eliud Leyva, 19, of Moreno Valley is accused of soliciting several juveniles for sex during the 2012-13 school year.

The gender of the students he propositioned was not disclosed.

A school administrator was reportedly told Friday that Leyva, made the solicitations while still employed by the school district.

Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Joel Morales said none of the alleged crimes happened on school property.

Authorities told KCAL9's Adrianna Weingold that there is no indication Leyva sexually assaulted any of his victims.

Students told Weingold that Leyva would frequently hang out on campus. They also told her he posed as a woman online to meet the underage students.

Leyva turned himself in at the high school and he was arrested, officials said. He was booked on suspicion of soliciting a minor and possessing child pornography. Leyva remained behind bars today with bail set at $1 million, records showed.

Sheriff's detectives believe there are other victims.

Leyva allegedly used social media to contact and meet with minors.

Deputies asked anyone with knowledge about Leyva to call Investigator James Merrill at the Moreno Valley sheriff's station at (951) 486-6700.
