Santa Monica Police Hunt Hit-And-Run Driver That Left Jogger, 17, Critical

SANTA MONICA (CBSLA.com) — Santa Monica Police are on the hunt for a hit-and-run driver that left a 17-year-old female jogger in critical condition.

Authorities were called to the 2300 block of San Vicente at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a 2010-2012 magnetic gray Toyota Corolla was going eastbound on San Vicente in the number two lane.

A 17-year-old jogger -- identified as a Santa Monica resident -- was running eastbound near the curb.

The driver struck the jogger and left the scene without rendering aid, said police.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is listed in critical condition.

Officials said the car should have noticeable collision damage to its front end.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run should call investigator Jason Olson at (310) 458-8954 or Sgt. Phillbo Rubish at (310) 458-8950.
