ONTARIO (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say they were looking for a female motorist in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a 9-year-old girl in the city of Ontario.

The accident happened about 3:58 p.m. on Thursday on California Street and Plum Avenue, according to a statement issued by the Ontario Police Department.

The statement says that when officers arrived, they found the victim lying between the street and the sidewalk.

The girl was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries but has since been released.

The statement says the driver of the vehicle — described as a Hispanic female between the age of 30 and 40 — allegedly made no apparent attempt to report the crash.

The suspect vehicle was described by police as an older model, white colored, midsize sedan with front passenger-side damage.

Anyone with information about the collision was asked to contact the Ontario Police Department at (909) 986-6711.
