Woman Wanted For Hit-And-Run Near LMU

PLAYA VISTA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Thursday were looking for a female driver who hit a male pedestrian with her car before fleeing the scene on foot.

The accident happened around 4:15 a.m. at the intersection of LMU Drive and Lincoln Boulevard near Loyola Marymount University in Playa Vista, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

According to authorities, the unidentified victim was jogging on the sidewalk when he was hit by the car after it hit a light pole.

Witnesses claim the driver was on her cell phone at the time of the accident.

The man, who is in his 60s, was hospitalized with severe injuries that may be life threatening, the LAPD said.

A suspect description was not released.

"She walked away, whether she walked into an apartment building or got picked up by a car, we have no idea," Sgt. Stephanie Krajcher said.

It was unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.

Southbound Lincoln Boulevard was closed between Jefferson Boulevard and LMU Drive for several hours as officers conducted an investigation.

Anyone with information should contact the LAPD at (213) 473-0222.
