Pedestrian Fatally Struck On Westbound 210 Freeway In Claremont

CLAREMONT (CBSLA.com) — A man was fatally struck by a vehicle on the westbound 210 Freeway in Claremont.

Jose Alfredo Gomez, 35, was walking in the slow lane for unknown reasons when he was hit by a 2008 Toyota, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Maehr.

CHP Officer Alex Rubio said the driver of the Toyota, 35-year-old Ramesh Tinnanooru, was not facing any charges "as of now."

Gomez's 2000 Camry was found parked on the right shoulder of the eastbound side of the freeway, about a quarter mile from the collision, Maehr said.

Tinnanooru was reportedly driving at 70 to 75 mph when his Toyota struck Gomez.
