LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – Veteran outfielder Raul Ibanez and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are near a one-year deal , pending a physical, according to MLB.com
Just a week after the Angels traded Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks, the Angels will hope for Ibanez to fill in for Trumbo’s power numbers.
Trumbo has averaged over 30 homeruns in the last three seasons with the Angels while Ibanez hit 29 home runs in his last season with the Seattle Mariners.
The 41-year-old has 300 career homeruns and has a batting average of .276 in his 18 years in the majors.
