Woman Sexually Assaulted, Robbed In Santa Ana Mall Parking Structure

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — A 19-year-old woman was robbed and sexually assaulted Wednesday night at an Orange County mall.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. in the parking structure of the Westfield MainPlace Mall in Santa Ana, police said.

The woman said she was getting into her vehicle when the suspect pushed her inside, threatened her with a weapon and assaulted her.

“He was extremely forceful and she was in fear of her life,” Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. “She was trying to dial 911 while this was all going on without his attention.”

The victim was able to escape and run for help, during which time the suspect stole some of her property and fled, officials said.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s.

Santa Ana police are conducting extra patrols at the mall due to the attack.
