Missing Woman, 19, Located In Eaton Canyon Area Of Pasadena

ARCADIA (CBSLA.com) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's helicopter Friday located a missing 19-year-old woman who was lost in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Family members of Bora Kim reported her missing to Arcadia police shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday, officials said.

Kim was last seen 12 hours earlier when her mother dropped her off at a bus stop headed for Pasadena City College.

"Later in the day, Kim sent suicidal messages to a boyfriend who recently broke up with her," Lt. Bob Anderson said. "At around 6 p.m., a friend received a cellular phone call from Kim stating she was lost in the mountains."

Friends said the woman liked to hike in Eaton Canyon in Pasadena. Authorities searched the mountain area overnight and eventually located Kim near a waterfall around 7 a.m.

The woman was alert and waving when she was located, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

She was transported to Huntington Hospital.

"Ms. Kim appeared to be in good condition, but understandably cold, and is being cared for at the hospital," Chief Robert T. Guthrie said. "Thankfully, she was found in good condition, due in part to a great collaborative effort by caring family, friends, rescuers, and media."

Family members were contacted and will be reunited with Kim.
