LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Voters in Southern California and across the state increasingly disapprove of President Barack Obama’s job performance, according to a new Field Poll.
The poll released Tuesday shows that 51 percent of registered voters approve of the job Obama is doing – the lowest mark in two years – while fewer than half support his handling of health care.
At the same, 43 percent disapprove, up 8 percentage points since Field’s last survey in July.
Poll director Mark DiCamillo told KNX 1070 NEWSRADIO that much of the waning support for the President is coming from his political base.
“What’s interesting in Obama’s decline is that it’s happening among some of the segments that have been most supportive of Obama and the Democratic Party in the past,” DiCamillo said.
Meanwhile, just 43 percent approve of his handling of health care, while half disapprove. Obama’s approval ratings are higher on the economy and foreign policy.
Overall, 55 percent of those surveyed still have a favorable view of the president.
KNX 1070’s Pete Demetriou reports at least one unidentified voter in downtown Los Angeles said he can understand the falloff.Comments (2)
