Highland Police Nab Suspect In Deadly Hit-And-Run
HIGHLAND (CBSLA.com) — Police have arrested the man they say plowed his SUV into a 53-year-old pedestrian Sunday night and sped off.
Thomas Kormillo, 35, is suspected of driving a blue Chevy Blazer that struck William "Bill" Alvarez as he was crossing the street near the intersection of Baseline and Sterling Avenue.
Police say Alvarez was struck again by a second vehicle whose driver also failed to stop and check on the victim.
Officials Monday released a photo of the Blazer obtained from surveillance video near the crash site. The license plate number was clearly visible and authorities traced the SUV to Kormillo.
Officials are asking witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information can call the Highland Police Department at (909) 425-9793. Anonymous tips can be given at (800) 78-CRIME (27463) or at www.wetip.com.
