SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — A San Bernardino man was arrested for killing an 84-year-old woman and brutally beating her 95-year-old husband during a home invasion, sheriff’s officials said Thursday.

Freddie Weston, 33, was arrested Wednesday in the 5100 block of N. 3rd Avenue and booked at Central Detention Center for murder and residential robbery.

Lorna Gable and her husband were attacked in the early morning hours of Jan. 19 after they woke up to find a burglar in their home.

Both were transported to local hospitals. Her husband was released a short time later, but Gable succumbed to her injuries and died Feb. 15.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information was asked to contact the Homicide Detail, Det. Matthew Peterson or Sgt. Chris Fisher at (909)387-3589.
