Kobe Bryant’s New Shoe, Nike Kobe 9’s, To Be Unveiled December 4
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —Although Kobe Bryant reportedly took a day off from practice Thursday as he rehabilitates his Achilles tendon, there’s no letup in the news about his Nike brand of shoes.
Nike has leaked, via KicksonFire, its latest basketball shoe: Nike Kobe 9’s, a.k.a. “The Ninth.” The shoes will be unveiled Dec. 4 in Los Angeles; there’s no word on the price tag, however.
After going five straight models with a mid-cut model, Nike and Bryant will go back to a high-top to help support his surgically repaired Achilles, which he tore in April during a game against the Golden State Warriors.
Bryant has widely been expected to return to the court long before Dec. 4, but ESPN reported that the 35-year-old took a day off from practice Thursday. A team spokesman said Bryant was experiencing “a little bit of soreness” in his left foot.
Coach Mike D’Antoni did not call Bryant’s move a “setback,” ESPN reported, but a league source said Bryant was unlikely to play this weekend.
