2 Sustain Major Injuries In Moreno Valley SUV Rollover Hit-And-Run Crash

MORENO VALLEY (CBSLA.com) — Two people sustained major injuries Saturday in a mid-morning rear-end crash on the 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley.

A driver of an SUV was rear-ended by another vehicle causing him to lose control, flip over while rolling down an embankment, crash through a chain-link fence and finally slam into a tree near the Town Circle Mall, according to the CHP.

The driver of the SUV and one of his two 65-year-old passengers suffered major injuries in the crash.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the collision fled the scene, said authorities.

The SUV's driver, Rafael Villareal Pasillas, 39, was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center, according to CHP officer Javier Muniz. Passillas' injuries were described as "major."

Passillas and his passengers were trapped in the vehicle.

The condition of the third person in the SUV was not immediately clear.

The victims were rescued by firefighters using cutting tools, according to Muniz.
