WEST HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Officials Tuesday investigated a suspicious item in West Hollywood.

The item, which looked like a pipe, was located around 12 p.m. on La Cienega Boulevard near Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department said.

A bomb squad deemed the item safe just before 1 p.m.

The Center for Early Education was evacuated as a precaution.

Portions of La Cienega and Melrose were shut down.
