CHP Motorcycle Officer Injured In Chatsworth Crash

CHATSWORTH (CBSLA.com) — Authorities say a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer was moderately injured Friday afternoon in a collision in Chatsworth.

The crash involving a garbage truck and the officer occurred on Topanga Canyon Boulevard near Nordhoff Street just after 1 p.m., according to officials.

The officer was rushed to an area hospital where he remained hospitalized. His current condition was unknown.

Investigators say the truck driver was making a wide right-hand turn and didn't see the motorcycle in the right lane.

The driver of the trash truck wasn't seriously hurt.

The crash prompted the closure of Topanga Canyon Boulevard just south of Nordhoff Street while authorities investigated.

No further information was immediately available.
