2 Dead In Riverside Solo-Vehicle Crash

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Two people died Wednesday morning after they were ejected from a vehicle in Riverside.

Riverside police officers observed a 1997 BMW traveling at a high rate of speed around 4:23 a.m., Lt. Larry Gonzales said.

Officers tried to catch up with the vehicle, but it crashed before they were able to.

The car hit a light pole and then a palm tree before catching fire in the 4200 block of Jackson Street.

Both occupants were ejected and died at the scene, Lt. Gonzales said.

Jackson Street was closed between Garfield and California while authorities investigated.

It was unclear if alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
