2 Deputies Wounded, Suspect Killed In Inglewood Shooting
INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Two Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were wounded and a suspect killed Tuesday in an early morning deputy-involved shooting in Inglewood.
The shots were fired just after midnight in the 3900 block of West Century Boulevard, officials said.
Detectives say the gun fight was prompted by a routine traffic stop made by the two deputies. It was unclear why the suspects fired at them.
One female deputy suffered a gunshot wound to her thigh and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She has since been released.
Officials said the bullet struck a cell phone charger in her pocket and saved her from more serious injuries.
The other deputy suffered a graze wound and was treated by paramedics on the scene.
The unidentified male suspect was also transported to a local hospital where he died, officials said.
"I was just sitting here at my job and I just heard six, seven, eight gunshots," Shawn Garland said. " A couple minutes later, about 30 cop cars showed up."
Authorities have detained two additional suspects - a male and a female - in the shooting. A hand gun was recovered from the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
