LAWNDALE (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives were investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was found inside a crashed car in Lawndale.

Deputies responded to a shots fired call around 5:40 a.m. Saturday in the 4000 block of 159th Street, said Deputy Irys Alvarez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Upon arrival, deputies found a vehicle — engine still running — crashed into a building.

An adult male was found with a single gunshot wound to the upper torso, said Alvarez.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call  the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bureau at 323-890-5500.
