NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The Los Angeles Police Department’s Bomb Squad is investigating a truck explosion that forced the closure of several city blocks in North Hollywood early Tuesday morning.
Just after midnight, residents reported hearing a loud boom near the intersection of Miranda Street and Magnus Avenue, according to officials.
“The explosion occurred on the interior of a truck and went outward from there,” Lt. Todd Hankel said.
The blast caused extensive damage to the vehicle and minor damage to nearby homes. No injuries were reported.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered a propane tank inside the vehicle, however, officials did not know if that was the source of the explosion.
“There were no secondary devices here,” Lt. Hankel said.
Authorities were investigating whether the blast was criminal in nature.
Additional details were not released.
