Dodgers Claim Outfielder Mike Baxter From Mets, Designate Alex Castellanos For Assignment

LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — The Dodgers Thursday claimed outfielder Mike Baxter from the New York Mets and designated outfielder Alex Castellanos for assignment.

The moves were announced Thursday.

Baxter hit .229 while playing at all three outfield positions as well as first base in 194 games with San Diego (2010) and the Mets (2011-13).

Castellanos played eight games for the Dodgers this season, hitting .171 with two homers and four RBI in 24 career big league games.

The Dodgers are set to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 of the NLCS Friday night.

The team now has 40 players on its 40-man roster.
