Residential Burglaries Spike In Silver Lake, Echo Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Police Wednesday said residential burglaries are on the rise in Silver Lake and Echo Park.

Since Sept. 15, there have been six reported burglaries in Echo Park. In each case, the suspect(s) entered through open windows and took small electronic items and cash. Three of the crimes took place at night along the 800 and 900 blocks of East Kensington Road.

In Silver Lake, eight burglaries, which include three break-ins via the garage, have been reported since Sept. 15. In those incidents, the crook(s) forced open windows and stole electronic devices, money and jewelry.

On Sept. 20, police arrested a suspect in four burglaries, but at least four more occurred since then.

"After close analysis, detectives believe the 14 Silver Lake and Echo Park burglaries are not related and implicate separate suspects," police said.

Residents are reminded to secure their residences prior to leaving.

Anyone with information about these crimes should call Rampart burglary detectives at (213) 484-3490.
