Man, 62, 'Intentionally' Hit By Pickup Truck Last Month Dies

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A 62-year-old man who was struck by a pickup truck last month has died of his injuries, according to police.

Riverside police Wednesday asked the public to help them solve the case.

Bernard Crain was standing on the sidewalk in front of a home in the 7100 block of Marguerita Avenue on September 14th around 6:30 p.m. when he was hit by a pick up truck, according to Sgt. David Amador.

Moreover, witnesses said the driver seemed to "intentionally" hit Crain.

The victim was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Crain was released from the hospital to recuperate at home.

"Mr. Crain developed complications as a result of the injuries and was re-admitted to the hospital, where he died on Oct. 5," Amador said.

The pickup was described as black and compact. At the time of the accident, the vehicle was occupied by a man and woman, witnesses told police.

The pair fled the scene immediately after running into Crain, said Amador.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Riverside police Detective Mike Medici, at (951) 353-7104, or Detective Ron Sanfilippo, at (951) 353-7105.
