The NFL is watching 2013 turn into a great season, but injuries can always take the steam out of a team that is well on their way to the playoffs. Dallas and New Orleans watched players go down left and right in Sunday’s games, but the Saints ended up in a better spot than the Cowboys. The Broncos are about to welcome Von Miller back from suspension, but there’s still a long road ahead of him.

DeMarco Murray and DeMarcus Ware likely out for at least one game

Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware hasn’t missed a game since entering the league back in 2005, but he’s about to miss one now. Ware suffered a pulled quadriceps during the victory over the Washington Redskins on Sunday night, and he even said that he is doubtful for this week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Ware doesn’t expect to be out too long.

Running back DeMarco Murray may not be so fortunate as he suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) against the Redskins. Both players had MRIs on Monday, and neither player’s injury showed significant damage. If Murray can’t play on Sunday, then the Cowboys will likely turn to rookie Joseph Randle.

Saints optimistic about Jimmy Graham’s injury as bye week approaches

Saints star tight end Jimmy Graham was held without a catch in a game for the first time since his rookie season back in 2010, but there were other things to be concerned about for New Orleans. Graham couldn’t finish the game as he suffered some sort of leg injury late in the fourth quarter.

The Saints still hadn’t given any details about the game and are simply calling it an “undisclosed leg injury,” but they are optimistic that it isn’t bad.

Evaluations are still to be done on Graham’s injury, but there is a positive thing ahead. The Saints are heading into a bye week now and will have some break time before returning to practice. Saints staff members believe that Graham will be healthy enough to play against the Buffalo Bills in two weeks.

Von Miller returning from suspension, but must win back trust of Broncos teammates

Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has been the leader of the team’s defense, but he missed the first six weeks of the season due to violating the league’s substance-abuse policy. While Miller didn’t admit to any failed drug tests or doing anything to influence test results; he did say that he’s let his teammates down and must get back in their good graces.

“I definitely made mistakes in the past,” Miller said following a team video session Monday afternoon. “It wouldn’t do anybody any good to go back and defend that stuff. I served my suspension, I’m working hard to gain everybody’s trust back. I’m just going to take it one day at a time. All I can ask is that everybody judge me on my actions going forward. And I can gain everybody’s trust back that way.”

Von Miller will most likely be on the field on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. He admits to “working hard to fix those mistakes” that he has said he has made in the past. Now, he wants to take care of things on the field since the off-field issues have now been settled.
