Woman With 2 Kids In Car Leads Police On Chase

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman who had two children in her car led police on a pursuit Tuesday morning from San Pedro to Fullerton College.

The incident began around 9:20 a.m. when a gardener in San Pedro discovered a possible suspicious item near Sixth Street and Sampson Way, said Phillip Sanfield of the Port of Los Angeles.

A perimeter was set up by port police to investigate the situation, but the female driver went through it without stopping.

Police, and then California Highway Patrol officers, began to chase the motorist, said Sanfield.

The woman finally stopped at a parking structure at Fullerton College after 10 a.m., where she was taken into custody, said CHP Officer Jon Latosquin.

The suspect was booked at the LAPD's 77th Division on suspicion of felony evading and child endangerment.

The kids were turned over to their grandparents.
