Around The NFL: Falcon WR Gone For Season, Schaub Has Incident With Fan, Aldon Smith In More Trouble

By Danny Cox

The 2013 NFL season continues forward, but there are some that are sliding backward in a hurry. The Atlanta Falcons are 1-4 and just lost their top receiver for the year. The Houston Texans are watching their starting quarterback get tormented at home. The San Francisco 49ers have even more trouble with a star linebacker even though he isn't on the field.

Falcons lose Julio Jones for the rest of the season

The Atlanta Falcons thought their season couldn't get much worse than a 1-4 start and sitting four full games back of the NFC South-leading New Orleans Saints, but they were wrong. Starting wide receiver Julio Jones has now been ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury to his right foot.

Jones is set to have surgery on Monday that will officially sideline him for the rest of 2013. A CT scan revealed that Jones has a fracture in his foot that is in the same location as the fracture he suffered back in 2011.

The Falcons wide receiver was leading the team and the league with 41 receptions. He had 580 yards and two touchdowns this season before suffering the injury this past Monday night against the New York Jets.

Fans show up at Matt Schaub's house, take pictures of his family

Matt Schaub may not be playing too well for the Houston Texans right now, but some people are taking their disappointment too far. Schaub had to call team security on Tuesday evening because multiple people drove by his house and started taking pictures.

Fans even approached Schaub at his house and started going off on him because of his recent poor play, according to a CBS Houston report. Schaub later said that he didn't know of anyone coming into his driveway and saying anything to him.

The Texans quarterback is married with three daughters and simply wants to secure the safety of his family.

An investigation has been started by the Houston Police after Schaub filed a report. They are looking into things to see if they can possibly figure out who may have come near his home on Tuesday night.

Aldon Smith charged with three felonies

The star linebacker of the San Francisco 49ers was charged with three felonies on Wednesday stemming from a party at his home back in June 2012. The counts all have to do with illegal possession of an assault weapon.

If convicted, Smith could face up to four years and four months in prison. He most likely will also face suspension from the NFL which will probably be pushed back to next season or as soon as his legal issues are resolved.

Aldon Smith is expected to surrender later this month as he is on indefinite leave of absence from the 49ers as he undergoes treatment for substance abuse. He is getting the treatment at an in-patient facility due to a DUI arrest a couple of weeks ago.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh would not comment on the possibility of Smith playing again this season.
