Deputies, Lifeguards Rescue 2 Passengers After Boat Capsizes In Marina Del Rey

MARINA DEL REY (CBSLA.com) — Two men were treated for hypothermia after their boat capsized near the Marina del Rey harbor Wednesday night.

The 25-foot Wellcraft boat capsized around 7:45 p.m. after getting tangled in a lobster net line, according to Deputy Arthur Claybion of the Marina del Rey sheriff's station.

"When the deputies arrived, they saw . . . . saw two men jump into the water. The deputies quickly pulled both men safely from the water and onboard their patrol boat," officials said in a statement. "The Wellcraft boat sank beneath the surface in 15 feet of water."

The passengers were treated by deputies and lifeguards and did not require hospitalization, Claybion said.
