EXPOSITION PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities Sunday launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in Exposition Park.

The body was found on a sidewalk in the 3700 block of S. Western Avenue about 6:55 a.m.

Although police insist the death is the result of natural causes, a coroner’s official says a homicide investigation has been launched.

According to Dana Bee, a coroner’s investigator, marks on the corpse are not consistent with a natural death.

The identity of the victim, believed to be 34 years old, has not been released.

No further information was immediately available.
