Suspect Killed In Deputy-Involved Shooting, Deputy, 2 Others Wounded In Attack

LAGUNA NIGEL (CBSLA.com) — One person was killed and three others reported injured after an attack with a knife prompted a deputy-involved shooting Tuesday.

The incident took place around 7:30p.m. at an upscale condominium complex on Marina Hills Dr. between Park Vista and Golden Lantern in Laguna Niguel.

Deputies responded to a call of unknown trouble and found one person on the ground stabbed.

An altercation led to a deputy-involved shooting, though police have not released additional details.

A sheriff's deputy was one of the people taken to the hospital, according to  Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

"I heard about 11 shots fired," said one neighbor. "I saw one of the deputies get transported into the ambulance. He was conscious, moving his head around so he looked like he was okay."

An Orange County Sheriff's Department spokesman confirmed the three wounded were transported to a local hospital with stab wounds.

Residents described a chaotic scene near the front door of a condominium where the suspect was killed.

Neighbors told CBS2's Stacey Butler different accounts of who was pounding on the door of the home. Some residents said the suspect had a knife and was trying to stab his parents.

Police have not confirmed any of the neighbor's accounts.

"It's frightening, frightening," one neighbor said. "I'm scared now at home."
