LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — After receiving an impressive 53 nominations — the most of any non-cable network — CBS served as the perfect host for the 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday night.

The network’s consistently strong ratings once again translated to Emmy gold as it scooped up a total of 16 awards.

While many of night’s most exciting moments were televised live on CBS2, this year’s winners also headed backstage with their highly coveted gold statuettes for some celebratory champagne.

Here are some of their most memorable quotes:

Jim Parsons, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the hit CBS show, The Big Bang Theory:

“My heart, oh, my heart. Boy, I want you to know that I am very aware of how exceedingly fortunate I am first to have the chance to do this role in this show. Thank you, Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, Steve Molaro. Secondly, to be here, to be a part of such a phenomenal group of people, and for seemingly happenstance reason to be up here right now, thank you so much. It’s so silly to be emotional, isn’t it?” a choked up Parsons said on stage.

After quipping backstage that after parties are more of an “after thought” for him, Parsons added: “I might go home and say hello to the dogs and that may feel like a hell of a celebration.”

He has won the award three times in the past five years.

Michael Douglas, Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for his portrayal of Liberace in Behind the Candelabra, on why he wants to share his award with co-star Matt Damon:

“But, obviously, there’s one nominee in particular that I have to really dance — thank.  This was a two‑hander.  And, Matt, you’re only as good, you’re only as good as your other hand. So, I can’t tell you. You were magnificent.  And the only reason I’m standing here is because of you. So you really deserve half of this. So do you want the bottom or the top? The top. I figured that.”

Claire Danes, Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Carrie Mathison on Showtime’s Homeland, on what she’s going to tell her 9-month-old son about her second consecutive win:

“‘Uma Mama Beep Bop!’ That’s kind of the level of communication we have right now. I just hope he doesn’t impale himself on this thing.”

Jeff Daniels, Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Will McAvoy on The Newsroom, on what’s next for him:

“We’re gonna party till dawn and then I’m going to get on a plane to Atlanta to film Dumb and Dumber 2: the intellectual free fall from Will McAvoy to Harry Dunne, imagine if you will…There are some things we’re going to do in Dumb and Dumber 2 that make the toilet scene look lame.”

Steven Levitani, creator of Modern Family, Outstanding Comedy Series, on the show’s fourth win:

“I cannot begin to express to you how surreal this ride has been, because none of us grew up feeling like winners. So, thank you to the bullies, to the popular kids, to the gym teachers who taunted us, who rejected us, and who made fun of the way we ran.”

The cast and crew of Breaking Bad, Outstanding Drama Series, which is in its final season: “Emmys B******!”

Anna Gunn, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Skyler White on Breaking Bad, on her first thought this morning:

“It was just that I really want to enjoy the day with my Breaking Bad family.”

Tina Fey, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for 30 Rock, on a possible reunion in five or 10 years now that the show is over:

“It will be an IMAX movie and it will be one-minute long… at the American Museum of Natural History.”

Merritt Weaver, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Zoey Barkow on Nurse Jackie, on her shockingly brief acceptance speech:

“I’m scared because it was unexpected, so I don’t know how to feel yet. I mean, I have therapy next week.”

Upon receiving the first award of the evening, Weaver merely said: “Thanks so much. Thanks so much. I gotta go. Bye.”

Tony Hale, Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Gary Walsh on Veep, on his first nomination and win:

“I’ve completely left my body. It’s so surreal.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Selina Meyer on Veep, on where she’s going to keep her second trophy in as many years:

“I’m going to sleep with it.”

Bobby Cannavale, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Gyp Rosetti on Boardwalk Empire, on winning in one of the most competitive categories:

“It took me a while to get up. I didn’t really believe it. Everything was slow and I’m thinking about my girlfriend going, ‘Baby…'”

Derek Hough on winning the first Outstanding Choreography award for his work on Dancing with the Stars:

“I think I’ve said ‘excited’ a couple times. Can you tell I’m excited?”

Stephen Colbert, Outstanding Variety Series for The Colbert Report, on how he thinks his show won:

“I’m grateful John took the summer off during voting season.”

Colbert briefly walked off stage in the press room only to return and add: “John Stewart’s streak is not broken. He’s an executive producer on the show.”
