Nearly 11K Students To Move Into Dorms At UCLA

WESTWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Nearly 11,000 students will move into dorms over the weekend at the University of California, Los Angeles.

The school recently opened up two new residence halls, creating a record number of on-campus housing.

"UCLA has really moved from this commuter school to residential over the last decade or so," UCLA's executive director of residential and student life Suzanne Seplow told KNX1070's Megan Goldsby. "We've almost doubled our occupancy."

Seplow said the party atmosphere is one of the perks of living on campus.

"Students can be involved in campus organizations on the main campus, then just have to come right up back up to the hill where the residence halls are located," she said.

One student who is new to the dorms, Vibhu Mihindru, just moved from New Dehli.

"I'm super excited, I can't wait to start. UCLA is an amazing school so I'm really pumped up,"
