ARTESIA (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives Thursday were investigating the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man.

The shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. in the 12100 block of 180th Street in Artesia, officials said.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a Hispanic male “lying on the parkway of his residence, suffering from a gunshot wound,” Deputy Irys Alvarez said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Nearby residents reported hearing approximately five gunshots before they came outside and discovered the unidentified victim.

They called for help, but no suspects or vehicles were seen leaving the crime scene.

Anyone with information should contact the LASD’s Homicide Bureau at (323)890-5500.
